| How to Tie a Tie in Less Than 10 Seconds? Running late to the office? Follow this guide to easily create the four-in-hand knot when you need to look your best in a hurry. This knot is considered less formal and produces a slightly asymmetrical, narrower knot than the full Windsor or half-Windsor styles. 5 Steps, 10 Seconds 1. Looking at your reflection in the mirror, drape your tie around your neck (seam-side down) with the wide end hanging about a foot lower than the narrow end. 2. Cross the wide end over the narrow end to make an X shape close to your sternum. 3. Continue to wrap the wide end around the narrow end and pull the wide end through the neck loop, from back to front. 4. Bring the wide end straight down through the knot you’ve just created. 5. Tighten carefully and draw up to the collar. Get a Demonstration Need an in-person demonstration on how to create this knot?
