| How to Tie a Bow Tie? Bow ties are making a comeback–even though many believe they’ve been relegated to the fashion wayside. From television shows to the music scene, bow ties are being spotted in more places than just the dance floor on prom night. So check out this step-by-step guide to learn how to tie a bow tie and become a true modern gentleman. 1. Looking at your reflection in the mirror, drape the bow tie around your neck with the seam side down. The left end should extend 1½ inches below the right end. 2. Cross the longer end over the shorter end and pass it behind and through the loop to create a simple overhand knot. Tighten it around your neck. 3. Now double up the shorter, hanging end to form the left loop of your bow. 4. Position this loop in the middle between your collar’s two points. 5. While holding this loop with your left hand, simply drop the other longer end over the front. 6. Double up the longer end (tail side closer to your body) to create the right loop of your bow. 7. Poke this loop through the knot behind your left loop. 8. Simply tighten and adjust to even the two loops of your bow. Need an in-person demonstration of how to tie a bow tie?
