We recommend that you contact the store nearest you or schedule an appointment as soon as you know of an event for which you will need a tuxedo. It is never too early to come in and reserve your desired selection. The minimum time required is 14 days before the event is scheduled. For any rental order placed sooner than 14 days before the event, a $20 "rush" fee will be applied to the order. For a wedding we recommend that you book your wedding party and select the tuxedo styles at least two months before the wedding date, but you’re welcome to come in 7-8 months in advance if you want to simply check it off your list!

What if some wedding party members live in another city or out of state? How do I get them fitted?
When you register your wedding party we will assign a group number to the wedding party and assign a reservation number to each member of the party who will be renting a tuxedo. Any member of the wedding party can then go into any Men's Wearhouse store across the country and provide the employee on duty with the group number. We'll take care of the rest. When may I pick up my tuxedo?
The tuxedos arrive in the store two business days prior to the event date. As they arrive, the store will call you to come in for a final fitting. Earlier fitting dates are possible when the arrangements have been made in advance, prior to pick-up.

What happens if the tuxedo does not fit?
Men's Wearhouse stores have a tailor shop and trained staff on site for minor alterations (such as adjusting the sleeve or trouser length). In the event that an item needs to be re-ordered, Men's Wearhouse will do everything possible to arrange for the item to arrive in the store by the event date.

Should I rent or should I purchase a tuxedo?
Fortunately, Men's Wearhouse gives you both options. As a rule, if you expect to wear a tuxedo more than two or three times in the next few years, it might be more economical to buy your own tuxedo.

Who should wear a tuxedo at my wedding?
A good rule of thumb is to have all the men you want in your wedding photos to wear tuxedos. Obviously the groom and his attendants should be in tuxedos, but you should also consider other family members, including fathers, brothers and grandfathers, as well as the ushers. You may also consider having any entertainers, photographers and videographers wear tuxedos for a polished and sophisticated presentation.

Should all members of a wedding party wear matching tuxedos?
Yes, it is very important that all men in a wedding party wear matching tuxedos. However, some brides prefer to have the groom wear a different style or color tuxedo. While this is an option, we suggest that you take a more subtle approach and select a different color for the groom's accessories (vest and tie). Our guess is that even if the groom is dressed the same as all the other groomsmen, the bride will still be able to identify him.

Should the wedding party wear vests or cummerbunds?
This is a matter of personal preference. Currently formal vests are more popular than cummerbunds due to the ability to coordinate color with bridesmaids’ dresses so we recommend that your party wear vests. Additionally, vests have a more "finished" look than cummerbunds and tend to look better when gentlemen remove their tuxedo jackets during the reception.

Why are all the rental tuxedos black? What if I need a different color to match my wedding colors?
Not all of the tuxedos offered by Men's Wearhouse are black. In addition to many black tuxedos, our rental program currently features at least one model in chocolate brown, as well as a limited selection of tuxes in white, grey and ivory. Other available options include a white dinner jacket and a gray cutaway (morning coat) model, which is worn with gray striped slacks. Despite the fact that some manufacturers insist on offering tuxes in a wide palette, the colors listed above are the only appropriate colors for adult men to wear on formal occasions. Black formal wear in particular will not clash photographically with your wedding colors. Nothing dates your wedding photos more quickly than selecting an unconventional hue for your tuxedos. On the other hand, a black tuxedo represents timeless elegance.

What about wearing tailcoats?
Tailcoats often referred to as "tails," are the most formal of all formal attire. They are only worn after sundown, unless the event begins earlier then l extends into the evening. They usually require a white pique shirt, a white pique vest and a matching bow tie.

What is a cutaway?
Cutaway coats, also commonly referred to as "morning coats," are worn during the day and are not to be worn after sundown. These coats do not have satin lapels and are available in black and gray. The gray coat is worn with gray striped slacks and is the traditional attire for morning weddings. The black coat is worn with black tuxedo slacks and is acceptable attire for any part of the day.

When can I wear a white dinner jacket?
The usual timeframe for wearing white dinner jackets is Memorial Day through Labor Day, and a strict traditionalist would tell you that you they should only be worn during the day, not in the evening. In fact, the traditionalist might even go so far as to tell you that if the event extends into the evening, you should change out of your white dinner jacket and into a black tuxedo coat at 5:00 or 6:00 P.M. However, as conventions today are less stringent than in the past, it is generally considered acceptable to wear a white jacket throughout the entire event. If your wedding party members will be wearing white jackets, we recommend that you ask the gentlemen to bring their jackets to the wedding in clothing bags and have the wedding photographs taken before the ceremony. The white jackets attract everything that isn't white, like makeup, punch, food—you get the idea.

Why should I rent shoes?
Do you really want to leave it to chance that everyone in the wedding party will have the appropriate shoes to wear with their tuxedo? Make sure your wedding photos turn out perfectly by having every man in the wedding party wear matching shoes.

Should my prom outfit match my date's dress?
Color coordinating with your prom date's dress can be a nice touch, but it is certainly not mandatory. (Of course, your date might think otherwise, so you should check with her.) When coordinating color, you should only incorporate the color of your date's dress into your accessories, namely your tuxedo tie and vest or cummerbund (or your dress shirt and tie if you're wearing a suit). Your clothing (meaning your tuxedo, suit, sport coat, etc.) should most definitely not match the color of your date's dress, unless your date's dress happens to be white or black.

I've been invited to an event described as "festive attire." What does this mean?
Unfortunately, this is one of those descriptions in men's attire that does not have an easy or settled answer. Indeed, most men undoubtedly expect a festive atmosphere at any party. Many men assume that a festive occasion requires attendees to dress up in formal or semi-formal wear. However, others believe "festive attire" implies fun, relaxed, or casual clothing. Still others use "festive attire" to describe holiday-themed attire. It is really the host's responsibility to convey what he or she means by the phrase "festive attire," so you should not hesitate to call the host and ask.

What does it mean when an invitation says "black tie invited?"
"Black tie invited" can be thought of as a slightly more forceful request than "black tie optional." It means that you should wear formal attire (a tuxedo and accessories) if possible.
